ARTWORK: Færgetid

Færgetid is a new audio-visual work by William Kudahl. During the past months, he has spent time on the local Venø Ferry sailing backwards and forwards on the two-minute crossing between Kleppen and the island of Venø. Using sound and video recordings, the work shapes a portrait of Ole and Johnny who work on the ferry and their long-standing friendship on and off board.

Every day the ferry departs 50 times from each port, taking people to and from the island. Through a series of slow images, we watch time as it goes by, the daily work on board, while the ferry is sailing and while it is waiting to sail again. Picturing these recurring events, the work draws attention to the things that change in life, and the things that will always be the same. And to a friendship slowly changing shape.

William Kudahl is a sound artist, writer and composer. In his work, Kudahl is interested in what we consider worth recollecting and remembering from our everyday lives. Using audio recordings, diary entries and images, he delves into the time and stories that can go by unnoticed. During the past few months, Kudahl has spent time on the local Venø Ferry sailing backwards and forwards on the two-minute crossing between Kleppen and the tiny island of Venø. At Struer Tracks, Kudahl will premiere a new audio-visual work shaping a portrait of Ole and Johnny who work on the ferry, and their long-standing friendship on and off board.
