Amber Meulenijzer lives and works in Brussels. With a background in both sound and visual arts she researches the tension between these fields. Combining everyday wonder, intuition and a general curiosity for the limits of different materials, she creates works with theatrical, cinematographic and poetic elements. The role of silence and spectator are investigated, playing with presence / non-presence, asking: Where does sound meet material? When does the ear guide the eye? What does the body need in order to hear? Who sings? Who listens?
