The Invisible City
Friday June 9th you can have a different cinema experience, when Struer Tracks presents the sound piece The Invisible City (Den usynlige by), where all images are created through your ears. Sound artist Jacob Kirkegaard and sound technician Peter Albrechtsen are the creators of this sound piece, which you can experience in the Apollo cinema’s DOLBY ATMOS hall.
The Invisible City is a site-specific piece that captures the sound of Copenhagen. With the piece, Kirkegaard and Albrechtsen portray the overheard and inaccessible spaces in the city, i.e. well-known places, but that most citizens never heard the sound of – at least not from the inside. The piece takes us behind the façade and focuses on the unheard and unprecedented identity of the city, showing us how all cities are filled with hidden sounds.
How do the interior of Tivoli’s rides, the postal service letter sorting during nighttime, the cells in Vestre Fængsel or the wind in the metro tunnels sound like? You will hear exactly this and much more when we send a tribute to the hidden sounds of all cities, and encourage you to discover the many soundscapes existing in your own town.
Jacob Kirkegaard and Peter Albrechtsen are two of Denmark’s most innovative sound makers. On and this evening they will introduce The Invisible City and subsequently tell more about the piece in a dialogue with Festival Director Jacob Kreutzfeldt.
